Creative Commons

Creative Commons is a two-year project funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme.  It provides Youth Theatre Arts Scotland and Youth Theatre Ireland, our sister organisation, with the opportunity to share best practice across sectors and build new resources in Young Critics practice and Young Leader mentorship and skills development.

YTI and YTAS both have experience in running programmes to support the development of the two chosen resource topics (Young Leaders and Young Critics) and also have experience in resource development. However, partners feel that the organisations will be able to achieve more by doing it together: sharing expertise, learning from each other’s staff and programme activities, pooling experiences and network contacts.

The project activities and methods partners intend to use throughout 2016-18 include:

  • Transnational Partnership Meetings
  • The development of three new Resources:

Young Leaders Mentorship Resource (see below)

Young Leaders Resource Suite

Young Critics Resource

  • Multiplier Training Events in March and June 2018

YTAS and YTI have identified the following objectives for the partnership:

  • To exchange skills, knowledge and expertise
  • To increase knowledge of the youth theatre sector in each partner country and develop working relationships between staff
  • To work together to create new, innovative resources to support two specific areas of practice of interest in both countries: Young Leaders resources and Young Critics resources
  • To advance best practice in these two specific areas, improving staff expertise and knowledge as well as that of the sector in general
  • To build a best practice model for international partnership between youth theatre development organisations that could be promoted at a European level

Longer term objectives include:

  • To leverage this partnership experience to instigate the creation of a wider, European Network of Youth Theatres with other European partners
  • To continue to share practice on an Irish / UK level to support the ongoing development of quality youth theatre practice in both countries
