Dumfries and Galloway’s Day of the Region

This September, Youth Theatre Arts Scotland celebrated the youth theatre community of Dumfries & Galloway as part of Day of the Region when some brilliant events and performances took place throughout the month. Day of the Region celebrates rural life and community and showcases Dumfries & Galloway’s talent by providing an exciting opportunity to strengthen community ties and increase community spirit.

Youth theatre activities included:

Moffat YT – Maskerclass with Colin White.

Bunbury Banter – Sound and Physical Performance workshop with Rachel Fulleger exploring verbatim theatre.

Fox and Hound Theatre – Exploring Text workshop with Helen Fox (using Blackout as the basis for exploration)

Catstrand – Theatre improvisation workshop and performance of Hopeless by Leyla Josephine

Performance Collective Stranraer – Regional tour of their show Remote Control, devised by the company and directed by Drew Taylor-Wilson

A huge thanks goes out to all the organisers, participants and funders who made Day of the Region a real highlight of the youth theatre calendar.
