Ayr Gaiety Theatre is proud to have launched its new community theatre initiative following two years of success after re-opening our doors in December 2012 to over 80,000 attendees!
We provide free youth theatre and outreach programmes to young people aged 8-18 across South Ayrshire in areas of multiple deprivation and rural isolation, where life chances are limited financially and geographically. Through this targeted approach of bringing excellent youth theatre provision to areas of need we look to foster positive aspirations, confidence, employability skills, creativity and reduced isolation for those most in need at a pivotal and vulnerable stage of their personal development.
Ayr Gaiety is firmly rooted in the community of South Ayrshire and wouldn’t be here today without the support of our partners. Our work is founded on a grassroots, network-led and collaborative platform that connects organisations and communities to stimulate creativity and innovation with the mission of increasing access to high-quality, transformative and inclusive theatrical experiences for young people in South Ayrshire. As an established Hub in Ayrshire for youth arts, education, training and research, our Community Theatre work will compliment and link to our partnership with the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) as an innovative ‘Learning Theatre’ and the brand new Time to Shine branch named Ayrshire Youth Arts Network, of which we are delighted to be the lead partner.
