Are you interested in creating your own performances and learning about the Royal Lyceum Theatre’s production of Touching The Void? Then come along to their Devising Theatre workshop.

“Life can deal you an amazing hand…” so why not use it as inspiration or a tool when devising theatre? Interested in creating theatre from scratch? Then come along to our devising workshop with professional theatre director, Jordan Blackwood to explore our production of Touching the Void. Using autobiographical stories, participants will explore key tools needed when creating theatre such as acting and storytelling.

Jordan Blackwood will be leading this workshop. He is a Scottish theatre director who trained at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama. He was a Resident Trainee Director at the King’s Head Theatre. In 2016, Jordan co-founded In Motion Theatre Company and was co-Creative Director of the Glasgow-based new writing company until July 2018. For the company, his directing credits include: Shattered by Lisa Nicoll (Scottish Tour); WIRED by Lesley Wilson (Edinburgh Fringe 2017); Dear Jane by Daniel Cameron (Winter Words Festival 2017, Glasgow). Other directing credits include: Success by Nick Drake (Royal Lyceum Theatre); We Were Kings by Daniel Cameron (Edinburgh Fringe 2014). Jordan has directed various scripts in development as part of events such as Words Words Words (Traverse Theatre); Stage to Page (Glasgow); Rapid Write Response (theatre503).

• I expected professional teaching and practice and was not disappointed
• I got a lot more tips than I expected found it useful. The themes I wanted to know about were conveyed thoroughly.
• I thought it was a strong workshop and thoroughly enjoyed it – great to find out different perspective from different practitioners. A great day!
