Every year Edinburgh International Festival host a spectacular opening event to launch the beginning of the festival. This year they are looking for a massive group of young people aged 16-26 to take part in a ‘secret’ Flash mob / pop up choir to form part of the opening event 5 Telegrams, as a signature event for the year of young people celebrations.
Performers will be among the crowd of thousands of people, and will pop up and perform a piece Anna Meredith has composed for them inspired by Field Postcards from World War 1. They will be led the movement director Nathan Clarke who has choreographed for Take That, Pharrell Williams, Ellie Goulding and worked on the Olympics and Paralympic closing ceremonies with Rihanna, Coldplay, the Spice Girls and One Direction. He’s also worked on the MTV VMAs where he worked with Jason Derulo, Fifth Harmony, Pitbull and Carly Rae Jepsen.
They will also have amazing costumes designed specially by the Edinburgh College of Art students, and work with hundreds of other like-minded young people living in Scotland – a real once in a life time experience!
